They say good things come to those who wait. And Shane Mertz waited a long time to receive his offer from Northwestern.

The Wildcats were the first program to show interest in the tackle from Hazlet (N.J.) Raritan last year, so he was excited to finally get an offer from offensive line coach Adam Cushing on Tuesday afternoon.
