Cameron leaves the window cracked
Jupiter (Fla.) quarterback Tyler Cameron is committed to South Florida, but is still leaving room for other schools to make their pitc.
Wake Forest made its pitch, offering a scholarship, as it has yet to receive a commitment from a quarterback for the 2012 recruiting class.
"I'm taking some visits," Cameron said. "I've taken some visits already, and I'm looking around still, trying to make sure I find the right spot. Make sure I'm doing the right move."
The 6-foot-3 and 210-pound prospect is flying out to Los Angeles this weekend for a visit to UCLA's campus, and see the Bruins take on Colorado. He believes UCLA will make a scholarship offer to him this weekend.
Cameron (Rated as a three-star recruit, the nation's No. 8 dual-threat quarterback and the No. 50 prospect in Florida by Rivals.com) said he recently visited Purdue. He said the Boilermakers offered him a scholarship.
He also made the trip to Winston-Salem to see Wake face Notre Dame.
"It went really well," Cameron said of his visit to Wake Forest. "I drove myself up there. My dad had a good time. I learned a lot about the school, and I really enjoyed the place."
Cameron added that his father's opinion will have a strong influence on his final decision.
Cody Preble, who is from the same county as Cameron, hosted the Florida product.
Ray McCartney and Tom Elrod are recruiting him for the Demon Deacons.
"They're [McCartney and Elrod] good guys," Cameron said. "They don't just care about football. They care about other things, like what's going on with my life."
Cameron insists that he is committed to USF, but also said if UCLA offers he will really have to think about it. He just wants to make the right choice.
