The Nebraska coaches scoured the country to find a big running back who could withstand the rigors of Big Ten play, and they were able to pluck Imani Cross out of SEC country. His coach, Bob Christmas, said that even though Imani is a gifted player, he is an even better person.

In that vein, Cross was emblematic of the recurring traits of character, leadership and competitiveness that were used to describe the members of NU's 2012 signing class.
