Simmons talks SU official
At the end of June Donnie Simmons from White Plains (N.Y.) Archbishop Stepinac gave a verbal commitment to the Syracuse Orange. This past weekend he finally had a chance to take his official visit and meet with some of his future teammates.
"The visit was a very great experience; we had a chance to bond with the coaches and meet the players on the team."
Simmons, 6-foot-3, 230 pounds was hosted on his official visit by one of his future defensive line teammates Jason Bromley.
"My host was Jason Bromley. He is a very good guy, very funny. He was just a great person overall he is a great leader."
Since he committed way back in June his official visit was important to him because it finally gave him the opportunity to meet some of his future teammates. Those meetings turned out to be his favorite part of the trip.
"My favorite part was finally getting the chance to bond with my future teammates. That was a great experience for me," Simmons said. "When I talked with the player we talked about the upcoming season and we are all excited about what is ahead of us."
Talking with the coaches was also another highlight.
"The coaches and I just talked about the foundation of the school and looking forward to next year."
On the visit everything went well and the one item that stuck out to the Empire State prospect was the amount of prospects that joined him on his trip.
"The amount of recruits that were on visits this weekend stuck out. It was kind of overwhelming to see how many people are looking at the school. I think that it is great because Syracuse is a great university."
Now that he has committed and taken his official visit did his views on the Orange change at all?
"My expectations were high when I was going into the trip and they fulfilled that. It was really good."
