Scarcelli Has CMU Offer
Marine City (Mich.) wide receiver Anthony Scarcelli is attracting interest from a number of schools following a successful junior year. He has received one offer at this point and it is from Central Michigan.
"I recently just got my first offer from Central Michigan. I am also getting interest from Toledo, Western Michigan, Eastern Michigan, Temple, Michigan, Michigan State, Iowa, and Indiana."
Scarcelli may have received his first offer from Central Michigan, but he is also looking at other schools to see what they have to offer.
"I just want a place where I can fit in. CMU and Iowa are both like that. I fit in pretty well at both places. They both play kids like me just a place at defensive back. Most teams like me as a strong safety and CMU is thinking of playing me there too."
Most schools have finished up with their spring games and have started sending out offers to prospects across the country. Scarcelli received his first offer on a cold Friday night when he was visiting for Central Michigan's Spring Game.
"Right after the spring game I got offered. Coach Enos told me how much how he liked me. There was some discussion between the coaches about whether they see me playing wide receiver or safety. Coach Enos did say that if I can play, I will get on the field because he plays his best players."
The CMU Spring Game not only gave Scarcelli a chance to receive an offer, but he also got a chance to meet with some of his fellow prospects and current players.
"I know Winslow Chapman. He has been a good friend for a long time. Both of us are from Port Huron and we have both been offered from Central Michigan. I also know Austin White because his cousins are two of my best friends."
As Scarcelli gets set to start his senior season in the fall, he hopes to improve his game in all aspects. He wants to increase the interest that schools have in him and pick up some more offers before he has to make a decision.
"I think that I'm a jack of all trades, but I'm probably not a master at anything. My strengths are that I'm bigger and stronger than most other defensive backs. As far as a weakness, I would say I'm more experienced on offense, so I have work to do to getter better at defensive back."
Scarcelli is looking to visit multiple schools in the coming months as he looks to find the school that is right for him.
"I've already visited CMU, MSU, Toledo, and EMU this year. This summer, I plan on going to Iowa for a weekend, as well as going to CMU, Michigan, MSU, Illinois, and Indiana."
