Harden camps with the Gophers
St. Paul (Minn.) Cretin-Derham Hall defensive tackle Jonathan Harden was looking forward to the Minnesota camp for weeks because he knew it was his golden opportunity to earn an offer from the Gophers.
The 6-foot, 300-pound defensive tackle attended the Gophers' Big Man Camp on Saturday and he recapped the experience with Rivals.com on Sunday.
"I just got done with the Minnesota camp yesterday and that went pretty well. They filmed me during a lot of my drills and one-on-ones and I think they're going to be evaluating me this upcoming week," he said.
In the past Harden said he's almost positive he would commit to Minnesota if they offered him. On Sunday he confirmed that he still feels the same way.
"I'm just really feeling the new coaching staff to be honest," he explained. "They're bringing a new intensity to Minnesota Gophers football. They're coming in and changing a lot. I'm really excited for them."
Two weeks ago Harden camped at Northern Iowa and he said that school is still evaluating him as well. He expects an offer from them before too long.
Harden attended the Sound Mind, Sound Body camp in Detroit and said he performed "alright" but noted that there were a lot of prospects in attendance and it was tough to get noticed.
"I'm actually leaving on Tuesday to go to the Northwestern camp because they have a little showcase there," he continued. "I'm leaving for that on Tuesday. The camp is Wednesday and then I'm going to finish up at North Dakota."
North Dakota is the only school to offer Harden thus far. He has been elected team captain so he has to be back in St. Paul before too late in the summer.
