Hokies offer in-state tackle
Offers are moving fast and furious out of Blacksburg today. A new scholarship that was extended went to an offensive tackle in the Commonwealth, his first major Division I scholarship to date.
"Coach Foster told me this morning," Fredericksburg (Va.) Riverbend offensive tackle Adam Taraschke said. "They had a meeting this morning and I called him about 12 o'clock and he told me."
The offer is thrilling for the lineman.
"It's really exciting," he said. "I've got to go sit down with my parents and see what we'll do.
"There is a possibility I could decide today. We're going to call them back later today and we'll see what happens. I do want to take another visit back, we'll decide on all that later today."
Coming off the camp, Taraschke was impressed by the Blacksburg.
"The campus was amazing, I liked the way the camp was run," he said. "It was kind of jumbled up cause there were like 100 offensive linemen there, but the coaches really liked my athletic ability and the way I can move. I think I did well in one-on-ones."
Part of the visit was getting to know the coaches better.
"I talked to pretty much all of them," he said. "I liked their attitude and the whole school in general really.
"I actually did talk to Frank Beamer too during the tour. It was actually really cool to talk to him."
As for the offer, did Virginia Tech clarify it?
"They said they might greyshirt or they might have to redshirt."
