All Eyes on Parks

As the Rice Owls welcome a group of 12 football recruits onto the Rice Campus this weekend, they hope 1 in particular will walk away convinced that the Owls want and need him more than any other place, especially if that other place is Minnesota.

Of course the recruit I speak of is Rivals 3-star Wide Receiver Dennis Parks of Converse Judson - and he may be the most important recruit in the Class of 2013.

The Owls see him as a player that can play any of the Receiver positions in their Spread Offense; as well as run their Wild Owl formation. More importantly they think he will soon possess the size beat any defensive back off the jam; the speed to separate; and the ball skills to bring down any ball thrown in his direction.

In short they see him not only as a difference maker, but as a game changer.

The Owls have transformed their Wide Receiver position group over the past 2 years with the additions of 6-5 Jordan Taylor, 6-5 Grant Peterson, 6-2 Lovett Gibson, and 6-0 meteor J.J. Walker.

Parks has been committed to Rice since late July. However a trip to Minnesota in December has shaken things up for the 6-3 190 pound speedster with a 35" vertical.

He told Gopher Illustrated earlier this week that he would be making a decision between Rice and Minnesota after his visit this weekend.

Judging from this weekend's recruiting agenda, he'll get Rice's best shot to make him an Owl for good.

Also on campus this weekend is 3-star Copperas Cove Running Back Brandon Hamilton, and McKinney Punter Cameron Decell.

Stay tuned this weekend for updates.
