With three of the top prospects in the state of Ohio already locked up, the Ohio State coaching staff is looking for more as they continue to pursue Cleveland Heights (Ohio) wide receiver Shelton Gibson. The 6-foot, 175-pound prospect was in Columbus on Friday for an unofficial visit and was able to sit down with members of the coaching staff.

"It was cool," said Gibson. "I got to sit down with some of the coaches and we were watching videos and they were telling me how I can (fit in) to Urban Meyer's offense. I talked to the running backs coach (Stan Drayton) and the receivers coach (Zach Smith) that's about it really," he explained.

The Buckeyes have made a big move on Gibson's list over the last two months and have gone from a school with seemingly little chance of landing the four-star prospect to being among Gibson's early top three.

"O-State, Auburn, and Oregon are my top three," he said. "(Ohio State) brought in a head coach from the SEC and he's a good coach and they're close to home. With Auburn, I like the coaches and their offense. Even though they lost their offensive coordinator it's still the same coaches that were cool to me when I was down there. Oregon, they just have have speed, every on the team has speed and that is why I'm looking at Oregon."

The biggest reason for Ohio State's climb up Gibson's list has been Meyer and his spread offense which Gibson feels suits him very well.

"It's definitely (Urban Meyer)," he said. "I never really got to sit down and really watch Percy Harvin but when I was able to sit down and watch the film on Percy Harvin he does everything that I do."

Another factor helping the Buckeyes is the Signing Day addition of class of 2012 offensive tackle Kyle Dodson. The two are close both on and off the field.

"We're real close," he said. "It wasn't like we were just cool on the football field, we're real close. With Kyle being down there it definitely helps me be more familiar with Ohio State."

The electric receiver is up to nine verbal offers, with his most recent offer coming from Pittsburgh.

"It was cool," Gibson said. "I had talked to the coaches the other day and they wanted me to call them back and the coach told me I was one of the top receiver prospects."

Gibson has been busy lately with indoor track but is hoping to make at least three more unofficial visits in the near future.

"I'm going to be going to Cincinnati because my cousin (Jeremy Graves) is going there," he explained. "I'm also trying to get to Vanderbilt and Illinois."

Early on in the process, Gibson was a prospect that looked like he may take all five official visits and make a late decision; however he says the timetable has been sped up.

"I was going to wait until my senior year but I definitely think it will be over by the summer," he said.
