Truitt goes in-depth about his decision

Washington D.C. cornerback Omar Truitt had options closer to home, including schools that he had visited before, but chose to take a different path and committed to Iowa sight unseen. We caught up with Truitt to talk about his decision, what made him comfortable with the Hawkeyes despite not seeing the campus yet, and much more.

Q: What made you decide today?

TRUITT: I just talked it over with my family and felt it was the right decision for me, so I called Coach White and told him that I wanted to commit. He was speechless. He was really excited.

Q: What made today the day to do it?

TRUITT: I was going to wait until my visit on June 21st, but what is the point of waiting if I already know where I want to go? That's where I was kind of at so I just wanted to get it out of the way and do it now instead.

Q: Have you been out there before?

TRUITT: No, I have not.

Q: What made you comfortable doing it without seeing everything?

TRUITT: I've done a lot of research on it, looked at some reviews, and people have told me a lot about it. It's a college town where they eat, sleep, and breathe Iowa football. It's all about the Hawkeyes out there. I know it's going to be a great place for me.
