Gbinije Could Be Dubbed Golden Child Pt 1
July 22, 2008 - In today's highly stratified world of travel team basketball, rare is the young person who as a rising sophomore is able to not only perform in but in the process make a name in the 17 and under classification; it's partly due to great differences in physical development and experience older high school players have over younger ones, as well as a growing trend of not exposing younger kids to older ones competitively for non-developmental related issues (specifically maintaining rankings).
One young man who has bucked that trend is Michael Gbinije (pronounced ben-a-jay), a Class of 2011, 6'6", 180 pound swingman from Chester, VA. Furthermore, Gbinije makes it all look so easy, as if he's a natural or golden child.
