Under Armour Summer Jam: Day 1

MILWAUKEE, WI - On a quick first night of games at the Under Armour Summer Jam presented by NY2LA Sports, a number of recruits stood out to the over 450 college coaches on day one of the event. Here's the brief recap from the first night of action.

Taking a Chance on LaChance

At this time last year, 2014 guard Riley LaChance was gaining interest from mid-major schools in the midwest. Currently, his recruitment has blown up and he is playing with new confidence.

"I'm trying to prove that I'm more than just a shooter and passer," LaChance told Rivals.com. "I can do it all and believe I can play at the highest level of college basketball."

Coaches have taken notice of the Ray Allen Select (WI) guard, who shot the ball well, made passes, ran the offense and showed a complete package on Wednesday. He lists offers from Missouri, Davidson, Indiana State and San Diego State with interest from Xavier, Northwestern, Minnesota, Santa Clara, Indiana and Marquette.

For now, his plan is to play through July and see what happens from there. He has yet to setup any official visits, but would love to check out Missouri and Davidson officially in the future.

Fisher Proves to be Real Deal

For most of the year, 2016 guard Jaylen Fisher was the only non-junior playing with the U17 Team Thad (TN) squad. While he may not be the most productive on the team, his presence and impact on the court has been felt playing two levels up.

Fisher did a great job on the court in Thad's first game as he ran the offense a bit, exhibited improved ball handling skills and a quick first step with the rock in his palms. His shot and consistency will be something to monitor throughout the week.

As plenty of college coaches are in deep pursuit of the older players in the program, three programs made their move on Fisher on Tuesday. Tennessee, Memphis and Baylor were the first schools to offer him a scholarship.

Florida, USC and other schools are also highly intrigued by him. Look for more schools to get involved after this week.

Jones Jets to Climax

Following a chance to play in front of college coaches galore at Reebok Breakout Camp last week, Derrick Jones picked up two key offers in his recruitment.

Kentucky and Kansas joined the long list of schools who had officially offered the 2015 small forward from WE R1 (DE). With Syracuse in hot pursuit, along with Maryland, Villanova, Penn State and others, it is clear that the Jayhawks and Wildcats offering will keep them in with the Orange for the long haul of Jones' recruitment.

"It's a real honor to have these schools recruiting me," he told Rivals.com after playing in front of Bill Self and Jim Boeheim. "I'm wide open at this point but have some schools in mind for unofficial visits."

Jones plans to visit Syracuse for its elite camp in late August, and wants to visit Kentucky in September.

Recruiting Rundown

2014 BMore's Finest (MD) wing Allen Costley has gained more attention this year as one of the main contributors for the team. Towson, Central Connecticut State, UMBC and, most recently, Morgan State, have offered Costley. He says Towson is recruiting him the hardest.

2014 Team Loaded (VA) forward Markell Lodge has had the opportunity to play on a different Team Loaded team, and is gaining more individual attention. He holds offers from Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, George Mason, Winthrop, Austin Peay, Jacksonville, St. Joseph's and Stephen F. Austin.

The recruitment of 2014 Mac Irvin Fire (IL) guard Miles Reynolds is beginning to unfold. He will take an official visit to LSU on Sept. 7, and most likely an official trip to Stanford following that. Those schools are in touch with him the most, followed by Ole Miss, and Rutgers. A decision is looming for October.
