2024 ATH Salvatore Capria impressed at Syracuse's Elite Prospect Camp last weekend, and now holds a PWO offer from the Orange.
"I’ve been working towards this non stop for the past few years and all of the hard work is starting to pay off," Capria said. "I am very thankful that I got the chance to showcase the skills I’ve developed during my off season grind for Coach (Mike) Lynch to evaluate. I would like to say that I am extremely blessed and honored to have the opportunity to join such a talented and dedicated team filled with great players and staff."
Capria earned the offer by displaying his athleticism and agility, especially in winning 1-on-1 reps.
"Camp went really well," Capria said. "I had a lot of nice separation from the linebackers using my speed. Bag drills went real smooth."
The coaching staff noticed, and Capria was able to speak extensively with coaches Lynch, Chris Achuff, Dennis Thomas and Deon Maddox afterward.
That conversation culminated in the offer to the Jim Thorpe (PA) High RB/OLB/KR, who his high school teammates with current Syracuse offensive lineman commit Noah Rosahac.
"It’s always a pleasure speaking with the coaches from Syracuse," Capria said. "Syracuse is still one of the top on my list. I love the aura of the facilities and the staff. Camp went well and I definitely want to spin back."
Part of the reason for that was listening to a speech head coach Dino Babers made at the end of the camp.
"He had said 'don’t let anyone tell you can’t do exactly what you want to do,'” Capria said. "It inspires me to pursue my dreams and aspirations. It encourages me to be confident in my abilities and to not let anyone else's doubts or negativity hold me back."
