2024 ATH Syair Torrence announced he was decommitting from Syracuse on Saturday afternoon.

"After a recent conversation with the head coach, it is best for me to de-commit from Syracuse and look to explore other options ahead of me," Torrence said in a post on Twitter. "My recruitment is 100% open."

Syracuse (NY) Christian Brothers Academy junior originally committed to Syracuse in November 2022, and was SU's first commitment in the 2024 class.

He is a Rivals three-star rated recruit, recently picked up an offer from Michigan State and has scheduled an official visit.

“’Why not Syracuse’ is the better question,” Torrence said of his commitment to Syracuse to The Juice Online in November. “I wanted to put the city on the map. We’re not really a football city or a football state. I just wanted to show everybody the difference.”
