Akingboye likes SU

The Syracuse Orange basketball staff have extended their reach into Texas, as they are in the running for 5-foot-10 point guard Sammy Akingboye.
The Class of 2009 prospect from Houston (TX) Thurgood Marshall will be camping at Syracuse this summer.

"I will be at Syracuse for their camp in July." Akingboye told CuseConfidential, "They are number one on my list, and I am excited to go up there."
The list includes Syracuse, Illinois, Wake Forest and fellow Big East member Louisville.
This summer has been eventful for Akingboye as he recently competed in the Proving Ground camp, which he qualified for the next level in that competition.
Akingboye is being recruited by Coach Bernie Fine, and the two are building a very solid relationship.
"I like how the coaches talk to me. I like it that they sound like they really care, it is almost like a family."
Being from Texas would make the move to Syracuse a bit of a scary proposition for most prospects but Akingboye says the distance is not an issue for him as long as he ends up successful.
"I like they way they play. I like that their players come out of the program successful and not just in basketball, education means a lot to me."
Education is something that is emphasized in his recruitment.
"Education is number one, my mom likes that and she wants me to graduate, so Syracuse has been able to have successful players graduate."
While Akingboye does not have an offer currently he would not be surprised if one was on the horizon saying that part of his reason for the trip was to have coaches see him in person and hopefully get an offer.
Stay tuned to CuseConfidential for the latest on Akingboye.
