Colorado defensive line coach Nick Williams joins Syracuse staff

Syracuse coach Fran Brown added another key piece to his staff on Monday, with former Colorado defensive line coach Nick Williams announcing he is joining the Orange.

Williams gives Brown another ace recruiter on staff with deep ties to the northeast, joining Brown, Nunzio Campanile and recently hired defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson. All four are well known to be well connected in New Jersey.

Williams spent last season with Colorado under Deion Sanders' staff where he was critical in landing three of Colorado's top four recruits.

He also spent time at Texas A&M and Georgia where he was also a defensive assistant.

A native of Georgia, Williams played with the Bulldogs from from 2008-10, appearing in 32 games at both safety and linebacker. He then transferred to North Alabama as a senior in 2013, he logged 62 tackles and two interceptions.

Brown was formally announced as the new head coach of Syracuse on Monday, replacing the outgoing Dino Babers. Syracuse will play USF in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 21.
