Syracuse received a commitment from JUCO running back Deston Hawkins, he announced on social media.

Hawkins attended Foothill College in Northern California, and led the Owls in rushing in the 2022 season with 1,164 yards and 18 touchdowns.

He took an official visit to Syracuse over the weekend and received his fourth offer from the Orange. The other schools to have offered the 6-foot-1, 210-pound back included Idaho, Northern Arizona and UTEP.

Hawkins, who attended Menlo-Atherton (CA) High and graduated in the 2019 cycle, has three years of eligibility remaining.

Hawkins adds to a frenzy of incoming transfers in the last two weeks, including quarterback Braden Davis (South Carolina), offensive lineman David Wohlabaugh (Kentucky), and JUCO defensive backs Berry Buxton and Jakobie Seabourn.

Hawkins adds depth to a running back unit that lost leading rusher Sean Tucker to the NFL. Tucker, a Second-Team All-ACC rusher, finished with 1,060 yards (5.1 avg) and 11 touchdowns in the 2022 season.
