Martin was injured for most of his true freshman season, and was only medically cleared to play in November. The new coaching staff at Nebraska gave him a gray jersey, signifying they wanted to try him both at wide receiver and defensive back.

Martin, who is listed at 6-foot-2 and 200 pounds, was the No. 13-ranked player in Illinois and the No. 40-ranked safety in the 2022 class.

He entered the transfer portal in late April.
