RAPID REACTION

Another week and another roster announcement concerning the 2023-24 Syracuse basketball team.

Sophomore forward Benny Williams is returning, and why not?

Williams, a Maryland native, was recruited scholastically by new head coach, Adrian Autry and is coming off the best game of his two-year Syracuse career in the ACC tournament second round loss to Wake Forest.

Williams’ great statistical line of 18 point including three 3-pointers 11 rebounds, five steals and a block against Wake was the type of performance Orange Nation had envisioned after his post graduate year at IMG academy in Florida.

And even better, Williams will no doubt improve his game over the summer, getting stronger for rebounding and fine-tuning his outside shooting especially beyond the arc, so he figures to almost assuredly improve his past season’s averages of 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds per game as a starting forward.

Williams’ return is another positive piece of roster news for Autry, who has seemingly dazzled behind the scenes as the new boss not even one month into the job.
