Rapid Reaction: Jesse Edwards appears to be returning to Syracuse

Although there hasn’t been an official announcement from the school, the recent comments from Syracuse coach Adrian Autry about his roster make up for next season certainly means great news to Orange Nation.

Autry spoke to Spectrum News, and said “everyone is back that is not in the portal," implying that All-ACC Third Team performer Jesse Edwards is coming back for his final season of eligibility.

Edwards has the chance to take his game to the next level of improvement after leading the ACC in blocked shots, field goal percentage (59.2 percent), second in rebounding, and an overall season double-double average of 14.5 points and 10.3 rebounds a game.

Edwards return also creates depth at the center spot with returning junior Mounir Hima the primary backup last season, redshirt freshman Peter Carey, and incoming 7-2 New Jersey recruit William Patterson.

Now, all that remains to be seen for next year’s roster in Autry’s rookie season is if Judah Mintz returns. Mintz has until June 12 to announce if he’s going back to SU or staying in the NBA draft.

If so, the coaching staff can land another transfer portal player with the backcourt needing depth if Mintz departs.
