Syracuse transfer Jesse Edwards committed to West Virginia on Sunday, according to a report from DraftExpress' Jonathan Givony.

"I felt it was time for a fresh start," Edwards said to Givony. "I needed a new environment to challenge myself in and I think West Virginia is just that. I've met some great people on my visit here and the campus looks amazing. This team could be something special."

Edwards entered the transfer portal earlier in April after failing to secure an NIL deal in Syracuse. He chose West Virginia over his other finalists, Gonzaga and Kansas.

He took an official visit to West Virginia over the weekend.

The 6-foot-11 big man from the Netherlands averaged 14.5 points, 10.3 rebounds and 2.7 blocks while shooting 59 percent from the field in the 2022-23 season at Syracuse.

In Syracuse's final regular season game against Wake Forest on March 4, he exploded for 27 points, 20 rebounds, 5 steals and 2 blocks. He was named to the All-ACC Third Team after the season.

"Over the years I learned this place is about so much more than just snow and basketball," Edwards said in an Instagram post about Syracuse. "I grew as a player and a teammate but more importantly, as a person. To everyone on campus who helped me and has become a part of my Cuse family, thank you."
