Syracuse received a commitment from Gonzaga (DC) High defensive lineman David McMorris, he announced on social media on Tuesday.

The 6-foot-2, 255-pound prospect selected the Orange from an offer sheet of over two dozen schools including West Virginia, Wake Forst, Virginia Tech, Pittsburgh, and Boston College.

"One major reason I committed to Syracuse was because while on my official visit watching how all the coaches and players interacted with each other, it felt like a true family, a family I wanted to be apart of," McMorris said to The Juice Online.

In nine games with the Eagles in the 2022 season, McMorris recorded 42 tackles, 7.0 TFL and 4.0 sacks.

"I think of my self as a fast and twitchy defensive lineman but at the same time I have a lot of power and heavy hands," McMorris said. "Also I think of myself to be a versatile lineman where I believe in my abilities to play anywhere on the defensive line."

McMorris joins Trashon Dye, Travon Dye, Tristen Graham and Noah Rosahac as commitments in Syracuse's current 2024 class.

Said McMorris: "I’m looking forward to getting on campus, starting to work on my craft and learning everything about the defensive scheme and how I can best be an impact on the team."
