Observations from the Rivals Camp Series in New Jersey

PISCATAWAY, N.J. — On the banks of the Raritan River, a lot of talent showed up for the last installment of the 2023 Rivals Camp Series in May.

All week, The Juice Online has provided interviews and video of some of Syracuse's top targets. However, some under the radar players who Syracuse is looking at showed up as well:

Salvatore Capria - A running back with solid feet that could cause headaches for linebackers. Not a small, straight-line running back, like Dion Lewis, but agile. Made cone drills look easy. Could be an extremely effective third down back. Will be interesting to see if Syracuse offers at camp as he is the type of under-the-radar running back who can move the chains.

Chaas McCoy - A defensive back with the speed to line up against the outside or the slot. McCoy’s speed could also potentially make him a superb special teams players on both sides of the ball. The speed was on display in Piscataway. Another player who I could see being a great get for Syracuse.

Gavin Marshalek - An up and coming QB. While still young, has the arm strength already to make the tough throws to the outside of the hash marks. Will be a fun player to monitor over the next few years. Read more about the chat I had with him at Camp.

Julian Dugger - Expressed interest in Syracuse but appears to want to be a QB at the next level. Duggar definitely has the tools to achieve this but Syracuse seems to have cooled on him. Toledo seems to be recruiting him the hardest but could be a late recruiting cycle pick up if Syracuse sees him as a fit for QB.

Elijah Kinsler - Kinsler has a bright future on the defensive line. Quick with violent hands. What really stood out to me during our one-on-one chat and what I saw on the field was his personality. Constantly pumping up his peers and showing leadership qualities. That won’t show up on the tape from Piscataway, but if I’m a coach this is the exact type of player, I want in my locker room.
