Syracuse QB Justin Lamson to enter transfer portal

Syracuse quarterback Justin Lamson will enter the transfer portal according to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel.

Lamson was a Rivals three-star quarterback in the 2021 class from Oakridge High in California, and becomes the third player and second quarterback to enter the transfer portal in the spring.

He joins quarterback JaCoabrian Morgan and defensive lineman Jatius Geer as players searching for new homes.

Lamson redshirted in 2021 and missed the entire 2022 season after a season-ending knee injury in practice. He returned for spring practices and had a strong Spring Game performance and was competing with Carlos Del-Rio Wilson for the top backup role to Garrett Shrader.

Syracuse head coach Dino Babers indicated following the scrimmage he felt Lamson and Del-Rio Wilson were even for the No. 2 role.

Lamson has three years of eligibility remaining, though he could potentially have four years if he is granted a medical redshirt for his 2022 season.
