Transfer OL Codie Hornsby commits to Syracuse

Grambling State transfer offensive lineman Codie Hornsby committed to Syracuse on Wednesday evening, he announced on social media.

"It was just an opportunity I couldn't pass up," he said to The Juice Online.

Hornsby entered the portal in late February with two years of eligibility remaining and met with offensive coordinator Jeff Nixon last week on a Zoom call.

"He’s a guy that is honest and tells you everything on how it is and what it is," Hornsby said in a previous interview. "We talked about how much they liked my film and how much they would like to have me there. He pointed out things that they like from my film and things that they think I should work on, so I just love the honesty."

Hornsby has always been a fan of Syracuse, and called it a 'dream school.'

"I grew up a big Carmelo Anthony fan," Hornsby said.

Hornsby selected the Orange over interest from Baylor, Vanderbilt, Georgia Tech, Oregon, Boston College and NC State, among others.
