When West Florida transfer Khalib Gilmore arrived at Syracuse, he knew something was different.
Gilmore had put his name into the transfer portal in January and had received a lot of interest, including offers from Temple and USF. But he had a special feeling from the Orange on his official visit from his host, Justin Barron, and the coaches.
"Getting to have those face-to-face conversations," Gilmore said to The Juice Online. "It was a really welcoming environment for me and my family."
Gilmore appeared in six games for the Argonauts in the 2022 season, and recorded 17 tackles. He will now take that experience to the Division I level with the Orange.
"I'm aggressive, and I'm cerebral," Gilmore said. "I'm a student of the game. I pride myself in playing hard and being prepared."
The 6-foot-4, 235-pound athlete played both linebacker and EDGE with West Florida and the coaching staff projects him in a variety of different roles in its 3-3-5 defense.
"They're basically saying there's four different positions I could possibly fit into," Gilmore said. "I'm looking forward to learning the defense and being able to help the team anywhere I need me."
Gilmore looks forward to introducing himself to the Syracuse community and showing what he can do in orange.
"It feels great," he said. "I can't wait to get up there during the summer."
