Podcast: Syracuse 'has the talent' to be an NCAA Tourney team, says Waters

Syracuse is 18 days from opening the 2023-24 basketball season, and we spoke with the Post-Standard's Mike Waters on this week's The Juice on the Cuse Podcast, presented by Rivals.com to get his take on the upcoming year.

"I think this team has the talent to make it to the NCAA Tournament. The one thing that gives me pause is the early season schedule. Autry made it clear he did not make this schedule. No first-year head coach would ever make this schedule."

Waters is referring to a stretch where SU will play in a stacked Maui Invitational, the ACC-SEC Challenge against LSU, and then travel to play its ACC opener against Virginia. But Waters also mentions that Syracuse has a talented roster, and several breakout candidates, including Benny Williams.

Afterward, The Juice Online's Brett Gustin calls in to recap Syracuse's media day. He talks about why JJ Starling transferred to Syracuse, why Judah Mintz withdrew his name from the NBA Draft, and the difference in vibe from past years.
