2024 linebacker Nick Parisi was on the Syracuse campus for a second time over the weekend, and got a closer look at the Orange.

Parisi previously visited Syracuse in September for SU's 32-29 win over Purdue and got a chance to experience the JMA Wireless Dome atmosphere. But for this visit, he had an opportunity to spend more time with the coaching staff.

"The visit was great," Parisi said to The Juice Online. "I had a chance to meet defensive coordinator Rocky Long and spend a lot of time with him. He also coaches the Linebackers and he went over his defense with us."

Long is the innovator of the 3-3-5 defense, which was run by his mentor Tony White, who left the defensive coordinator position at Syracuse in the offseason for Nebraska.

Long will continue to deploy it in 2023, which is a great fit for Parisi since that is the defense that his high school, Holy Trinity (NY) runs.

"It's probably the best defense for a physical linebacker," Parisi said. "This is the ideal defense for a player of my skill set. It's very complex but fun and most coaches see me as a high IQ Linebacker."

Parisi also had a chance to meet with his primary recruiter, tight ends coach Nunzio Campanile, who was also his primary recruiter when Campanile was at Rutgers. He told Parisi SU would be taking two linebackers in the 2024 cycle.

Campanile will come down to Holy Trinity to see Parisi during the May evaluation period, and Parisi will also be back at the Syracuse campus for camp on June 4, he said.

"I've made tremendous gains in both the weight room and with my speed coach," Parisi said. "I'm currently 6'2", 230 pounds, and running low 4.7s in the 40M. My goal is to break below a 4.7 this June. With that said, I feel Syracuse is a perfect fit for my skill set. I can see myself thriving in that defense under coach Long."
