Florida State and Louisville will face off for the ACC Football Championship on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 8 p.m. on ABC.
The Seminoles come in at 12-0 for just the fourth time in program history, and according to college football odds, the ‘Notes are a 2.5 point favorite against the Cardinals. The over/under for the game has also been set at 49.
Florida State knocked off in-state rival Florida over the weekend, and moved up one spot in the College Football Playoff rankings to No. 4. The rankings are currently No. 1 Georgia, followed by No. 2 Michigan, which just knocked off arch-rival Ohio State on Saturday. The Buckeyes dropped to No. 6, with No. 3 Washington and No. 5 Oregon rounding out the top 5.
Oregon and Washington will face off in the Pac-12 Championship, with the winner heading toward the College Football Playoff. Alabama will face Georgia in the SEC Championship, looking to play spoiler to the Bulldogs’ chances.
Florida State has now won 18 straight games, which according to college football research is the third longest streak in the FBS right now, and the second longest in school history. In a 24-15 win over the Gators, Trey Benson ran for three touchdowns, including a 26-yarder with under three minutes to go. He finished with 19 carries for 95 yards.
The Seminoles needed to rally from 12-0 down in the second quarter, but outscored their opponent 17-3 in the second half.
The win forced the Gators out of the college football postseason for the first time since the 2017 season.
Meanwhile, No. 9 Louisville was upset by in-state rival Kentucky, 38-13. Ray Davis threw for two touchdowns, and rushed for the go-ahead score with 1:02 left on the clock to cap a 4-play, 75-yard drive.
The Cardinals drove all the way down to the Kentucky 32 with :08 left, but Jack Plummer’s pass was intercepted, and the 7-5 Wildcats pulled off the improbable upset.
Plumber has thrown for 2,952 yards and 21 touchdowns this season, though he has been intercepted 11 times.
Florida State won last year’s matchup between the two teams, 35-31, with Tate Rodemaker leading a decisive offensive after Jordan Travis was injured.
Travis has thrown for 2,755 yards and 20 touchdowns this season (just 2 INTs), and rushed for 176 yards and seven scores on the ground. Running back Trey Benson has rushed for 838 yards and 14 TDs.
