Jersey City (NJ) St. Peter's Prep is home to 2022 offensive line prospect Andre Oben. His father Roman played twelve years in the NFL making 130 starts in a total of 143 games played. R.J. Oben, the brother of Andre is a defensive end at Duke.
Football is in the blood of Oben and his recruitment started to take off with an offer from Syracuse.
"I got the offer after coach Vinson Reynolds informed my high school coach, Rich Hansen.
"I was very excited and they were my first FBS offer."
Oben, 6-foot-4, 285 pounds talked about Syracuse Coach Vinson Reynolds and what he likes about the Orange.
"Coach Reynolds told me he liked my size, my measurables and how I was committed to improving as a football player. He also recruited my brother RJ and 'Cuse was a top three choice for him.
"I like that they’re close to home and have a great football tradition historically. Also, I’d be interested in the iSchool."
On Rivals.com Oben is listed as an offensive tackle. Syracuse has not mentioned a set spot for him yet.
"We haven’t discussed that yet. I would need to talk to the offensive line coach."
Where ever he plays the Garden State prospect believes he has all the tools to play at a power five program.
"I believe that I have the frame of a division one offensive lineman and I have a lot of potential to be great. I know that I don’t have the most film right now but I did pretty well with the plays that I had. I have also been able to show my football IQ in my talks with coaches."
Other than the Orange other programs are starting to take note.
"A lot of O-line coaches have followed me on twitter Vandy, Wake, Tennessee, Pitt, Minnesota, Colorado. I’m just waiting until September first when I can officially have more interaction."
There is also no rush for Oben to pick his future school.
"I’ll commit before the start of the season next summer in June or July."
