As the 2023 college football season wraps up, I took a look at how outgoing transfers from Syracuse did during the season.

With 138 total tackles in his three seasons, Carter was a dominant safety for Syracuse including his 2022 season where he had three interceptions in three straight games.

Carter had a slow start with the Buckeyes this season totaling five tackles through the first five games of the year. In week 7 against Penn State, he suffered a leg injury blocking for a kick return. This ended up keeping him sidelined the rest of the season.

As a senior with one more year of eligibility, Carter remains a backup at Ohio State looking to return to form for his final season.

Lamson appeared to firmly establish himself as Syracuse's top reserve quarterback before he entered the transfer portal in the spring.

The Sacramento native set his sites on playing in the Pac-12 conference he grew up watching. Though Stanford struggled in the 2023 season, Lamson got his chance for more playing time.

The sophomore had 504 passing yards on the year but still seeks his first career touchdown.

Originally from Anderson, South Carolina, Geer is another transfer from the Orange that seeked a destination closer to home. As a sophomore at Syracuse he started every game on the line and looks to get back to this way next year. After a promising sophomore season at Syracuse, Geer was able to transfer into the SEC with South Carolina.

Geer played the last six games for the Gamecocks after an injury kept him out the first three weeks. Totalling ten tackles and one forced fumble on the season, he is looking to make more of an impact in 2024.

During the 2020 pandemic season, Morgan became the seventh player in Syracuse history to start at quarterback as a true freshman. He played in four games with two starts before getting injured against Louisville.

Throwing for 285 yards during this stretch, Morgan would redshirt in 2022 after struggling to see playing time after his freshman season. He decided last season to transfer to JSU as a redshirt junior.

Morgan in six games threw for over 800 yards at a 67 percent completion rate with 10 touchdowns with Jackson State.

Linton played four seasons at Syracuse where he only saw one start at both defensive end and linebacker, but was effective during his final season in Orange. He had 45 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss in the four years.

For his final season of eligibility, Linton entered the transfer portal and made an impact at Texas Tech before being injured the last month of the season. He had over twenty tackles with three sacks and two forced fumbles in the nine games he played.

A two-time All-ACC corner at Syracuse, Duce Chestnut’s athleticism made him stand out in his first two seasons with the Orange. After back to back years with over 40 tackles where he started every game, Chestnut was sough out for in the transfer portal.

Committing to Brian Kelly and LSU last season, Chestnut started in the season opener against Florida State and had an interception. He was benched after this game and only played in limited time against Arkansas before it was announced he was no longer with the team.

To start the new year, Chestnut announced his decision to transfer back to Syracuse following the new head coaching change. He looks to return to the production he had as an ESPN Freshman All-American.

Rated as the #9 prospect out of Minnesota, Magnuson did not see any playing time at Syracuse before transferring to St. Thomas.

He also did not play at all in 2023.

After a solid four year career at Syraucse, wide receiver Courtney Jackson transferred to Arkansas State for his final season of eligibility.

At Syracuse, Jackson totaled over 660 receiving yards with four touchdowns. He played in 36 games over three seasons and left for a high impact role during his final campaign.

The Red Wolves used the former three-star prospect in high volume, as he recorded seven touchdowns with 689 receiving yards in 13 games.

Arkansas State made it to the Camellia Bowl and lost to NIU. Jackson had just one catch for 31 yards in his final game.

A three-star prospect out of Wisconsin, Schuster did not play for Syracuse in his freshman season and redshirted in 2022. Transferring to Western Michigan, he did not play at all during the 2023 season.

Rated as a three star running back out of high school, Hough transitioned to defensive line in his second year with the Orange. After suffering an injury in fall camp, he never saw playing time for Syracuse.

In December of 2022, Hough entered the transfer portal and appears to not have played in the 2023 season.

After redshirting as a freshman, Queeley had a high impact first season for Syracuse, starting in every game and catching over three receptions in nine of 11 games.

Totaling 378 yards in his first season, Queeley’s usage for Syracuse declined over time and he transferred to Georgia State following his junior year. As a senior, Queeley had 28 receptions for 275 yards on the season while playing in eight games.

He did not play in Georgia Southern’s bowl game against Ohio.

Foster was a three-star prospect out of Ohio, but was suspended for violation of team rules and did not play at Syracuse during his freshman season. He transferred to a JUCO (Butler CC) where he appeared in seven games.
