Sophomore guard JJ Starling officially signed with Syracuse on Wednesday morning, the school announced.
Starling spent his freshman year at Notre Dame where he appeared in 28 games, averaging 11.2 points, 2.8 rebounds, and 1.1 assists per game. After the season, he was named to the ACC All-Freshman Team.
Starling is a Central New York native, and became Baldwinsville all-time scoring leader during his sophomore season. In his freshman campaign with the Bees. He earned 2018-19 All-Central New York and Class AA All-State recognition.
He transferred to La Lumiere School (IN) for the 2020-21 season, and was named a McDonalds All-American at the end of the year. Starling was rated a four-star recruit by Rivals.
He joins a team in transition, with four players (John Bol Ajak, Symir Torrence, Jesse Edwards and Joe Girard) in the transfer portal, and guard Judah Mintz undergoing the NBA Draft process.
Jim Boeheim retired as head coach after 47 years, and was replaced by Starling's primary recruiter with Syracuse, Red Autry.
