Syracuse is targeting New York Giants running backs coach Jeff Nixon as its next offensive coordinator according to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel.
He and new Syracuse head coach Fran Brown overlapped at Baylor where Nixon was the co-offensive coordinator and running backs coach.
Nixon started his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Penn State in 1997, and has held various college and professional positions, inclulding with the Temple Owls, San Francisco 49ers and Carolina Panthers.
So far, Brown's staff includes Nunzio Campanile, a holdover from the previous coaching staff, defensive coordinator Elijah Robinson (Texas A&M), defensive line coach Nick Williams (Colorado) and assistant wide receivers coach Devin Redd.
Brown was formally announced as the new head coach of Syracuse on Monday, replacing the outgoing Dino Babers.
Syracuse will play USF in the Boca Raton Bowl on Dec. 21.
