Syracuse forward Benny Williams will return for his junior season according to a report from Syracuse.com.

Williams appeared in 30 games in his sophomore season, averaging 7.2 points and 4.1 rebounds in 22.3 minutes. But he lost his starting role toward the end of the season in a Jan. 28 game against Virginia Tech.

He took the following game off for "personal reasons" against Virginia, but later returned to the lineup as a reserve and eventually as a starter on Feb. 25 against Pittsburgh.

In SU's last two games against Wake Forest, Williams went scoreless in eight minutes in the regular season finale, then scored 18 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in the ACC Tournament, a microcosm of his up-and-down season.

Williams is a former five-star recruit in the 2021 class, and was recruited by recently elevated coach Red Autry.
