Syracuse in the NBA: Jerami Grant averaging 22.1 ppg

The first ever NBA In-Season Tournament concluded this past weekend in Las Vegas, giving a jolt to the regular season during the holiday season. None of the Syracuse alum in the NBA made it to Vegas for the IST. But, their teams are either jockeying for playoff position or, in the case of one player, seeing if there are trade options out there to get a player to a contending team.

Oshae Brissett. Now up to nine games played on the season, Brissett has yet to break through into the Boston rotation, even with a Celtics team in need of depth. Brissett has averaged 10 minuters in his nine games, scoring in five of the nine. His season high of five points came against Brooklyn back on Nov. 4 and a season-high seven rebounds in just 17 minutes against Charlotte on Nov. 20.

Jerami Grant. The Portland Trail Blazers sit at just 6-16 roughly a quarter of the way into the season. With Dec. 15 (when many players who signed in the offseason are finally able to be traded) marking the official start of the NBA trade season, we may start to hear some rumors of Grant headed elsewhere before the February deadline. Currently, outside of Anfernee Simons (who has only played four games), Grant leads Portland in scoring at 22.1 points per game, even after missing the last three games with a concussion. As we have known for a while, Grant's game is perfectly suited to blend in on nearly every roster in the league. Expect plenty of outside interest in him over the next couple months.

Cole Swider. In his second NBA season, Swider has only played in three games for the Miami Heat. In his most recent appearance back on Nov. 25 against Brooklyn, Swider poured in 11 points in 20 minutes. He was 4-for-8 from the floor and 3-for-7 from beyond the arc. For the season, he has now scored 16 points in 28 minutes. He will look for increased minutes in Erik Spoelsta's rotation.
