New Syracuse head coach Fran Brown stayed hot on the recruiting trail in the last week, picking up key commitments in the portal and also in the 2024 class.

Let's look back on the past week.

Syracuse added another elite player in the 2024 class, with four-star DB Marcellus Barnes Jr. pledging to the Orange. "I know that I'll be able to really get better with my techniques and everything because coach Fran knows the ball really well," he said to Rivals.

The Orange also received a commitment from Howard transfer Da’Metrius Weatherspoon. The 6-foot-7, 335-pound prospect was named a 2023 First-Team HBU All-American.

2025 four-star QB Malik Washington Archbishop Spalding (MD) signal caller holds over a dozen offers, and the Rivals four-star recruit recently trimmed his list down to a top 6 with SU making the cut. The other schools in his list incldue Texas A&M, Virginia Tech, Oregon and Penn State.

One of the top quarterbacks in the 2025 class is Parkview (AK) High's Quentin Murphy. He has locked in a visit with Syracuse later in the month after the Orange offered him.

2025 Iona (NY) Prep offensive lineman Rowan Byrne is New York's No. 1 prospect in his cycle. Byrne was re-offered by Syracuse earlier in the week, and he's excited to get to know the new coaching staff under Fran Brown, he tells The Juice Online.

2025 defensive back Dawayne Galloway is one of the elite players in his class. The Ohio athlete is a Rivals four-star prospect and the No. 106 overall recruit. He recently picked up a Syracuse offer and spoke with The Juice Online about his thoughts on the Orange.

Our final recruiting tidbit comes from the hardwood. The No. 22 prospect in the 2026 class, Jordan Smith Jr’s talent is no secret. Word has been out on the sophomore guard for some time now and his offer list reflects that. He tells Rivals he's planning on visiting Syracuse, who offered him last year.
